Walead Beshty:
“He is particularly interested in shipping companies, specifically FedEx, and their efficiency and capability of delivering objects around the world. Beshty constructs glass vitrines that are the exact dimensions of a FedEx box, and he then places the glass boxes into a FedEx box and ships it to the exhibition site. The glass sculptures then show the wear and tear of its travels through “space and time.”

Magali Nougarède - Programme Leader + year 1 & year 3 tutor at University of Wales, Newport.
I’m going up very early to Newport this wednesday (my birthday) for an interview for BA (Hons) Photographic Art in Newport.
The programme aims to combine the openness of fine art practice with the discipline of documentary photography. I have worked with documentary based themes before, so this will not be new to me in the sence that I have worked on documentary projects before. but im worried about the boudaries of the course criteria, I what to keep my options relatively open in terms of where I want to take my practice. so this will be important in finding out if this sort of course could be the right one or not.
this is one of the teaching teams work.
Went to an Andy Warhol exhibition on sunday in Bexhill, it was rather odd standing next to his work, they had a good mix of works from classic Brillo boxes to tape recordings of people talking about him and his life. I rather liked it and would recommend it to anyone to see his work in the flesh. also met my gcse photography teacher there which was a rather nice surprize.
found this really interesting, if you watch the video have to turn subtitles on !(unless you can speak Swedish?)
much of what is called “public space” is anything but,and stockholm-based artist Adams has created dozens of projects to show and combat this. one of his most ingenious has been to cut the padlocks that close doors and gates to purportedly public spaces, then replace the locks with ones to which he has the key. those keys are then stored in library books in stockholms’s public libraries, along with maps to the spaces that the keys open.
looking through old stuff did at a level. this wasn’t independant, had to photograph fashion for Alevel fashion studens which was different and never done before. stuff like this is just gonna get forgotten so ill blog it maybe i could get some ideas from it some day ? better to get ideas from myself than other artist. sometimes?
